Does My Pet Have Arthritis?

September is Animal Pain Awareness month!

This month we will be focusing on ARTHRITIS in both dogs and cats. Osteoarthritis is very common and can interfere with daily activities, impacting quality of life

Common signs of arthritis is pets include the following:

  1. Difficulty getting up

  2. Stiffness when walking

  3. Limping

  4. Trembling when standing or walking

  5. Reluctance to go up and/or down stairs

  6. Bunny hopping with back legs when using stairs

  7. Difficulty jumping on/off couches

  8. Less interest in playing and going for walks

  9. Unexpected aggression towards other dogs or towards humans

  10. Reluctance to be touched on certain parts of the body

It is easy to think that these signs are a natural part of the aging process, but please do not ignore these signs. Thankfully treatments are available to help your pet live a more comfortable life. Stay tuned for what you can do to improve your pet’s quality of life.
